Review on the album by Syuli Firmansyah
July 9th, 2007 by adamsmithbandPacked in cleared and simple art cover design Adam Smith and the Slow Marching Band album give a good looking, with Royal British marching band as a central icon shows what Adam and his band meaning about the marching it is. Breathing in British sounds of their music Adam Smith and the Slow Marching Band will take and throwing us back to 70’s, when legendary band The Beatles rules Pop & Rock n Roll music.
Almost the rest of their song tracks are easy listening music in slow beat tempos with replication of Beatles sound, was nice to hear. Just sit and relax…close your eyes and enjoy it. Adam will tell about how love should be, feeling confused, and doubt, despaired and wishing in love.
Opened with MY LOVE at first track in medium tempo, I was surprised first time I hear, because Adam’s sing closer like The Beatles in middle of his era in 70’s. As an opening song this song gives good impassions for all Adam’s song tracks. Adam’s give us a good shoots. This song leads us into Adam sounds corridor like Beatles, a classic pure rock style.
PUTIH written by Adam Smith are a powerful song, which I might says the best song in Adam Smith album. Sitar sound at first remembering me to Beatles style at their late albums, exploring Ravi Shankar sitar involved into his music, poetic lyrics and continued with expandable string orchestral and soft backing vocals, gave these song a power become a best song in all song track in his album …a great song!
Other tracks most written in standard pop style as usual pop music we heard every day, nothing special. In (I won’t be) LONELY, HERE TODAY we found another Beatles style. Beating in pops hooks at 70’s. An easy song we can enjoy easily as we want to hear.
HAMPA ASA was a little bit different from another track, it sounds like modern pop at 80’s. Basses picks and drum strokes dominate in entire song and attractive bluesy guitar melody and nice backings vocal, take us to a fresh sound.
Composing from 4 persons, Adam Smith and the Slow Marching Band, presents a fresh music in 70’s style.
Adam Smith: Acoustic, electric guitars, lead vocal.
Denny Boy: Lead guitars, backing vocal.
Jaaps: Bass and more basses.
Benny Star: Drums.
